The Society offers research assistance to members and non-members through a number of volunteer researchers utilizing a number of research aids. A small fee is charged for some services and donations for services rendered are welcome.


The Library has a collection of monographs on the history of Toowoomba and immediate environs. Books may be consulted but not borrowed.

Broderick Collection

Assorted, mainly recent photographs of “heritage” public buildings, churches, hotels, houses and cottages (many photographed by Chronicle photographer Bob Penfold); some in colour; but also a few “old” photos.


Fred Crook-King Collection

Toowoomba-based photographer and Chronicle photographer c.1920-1960s; includes many “news” photographs.

Photos of snowfall of 3 July 1984.


Morrison Collection

Photos of a visiting bowls team to Toowoomba around Easter 1950.


Rigby Collection

Photos of Toowoomba businesses taken for South British Marine & Insurance Co c.1899.

Photos taken by Gordon Thomas mainly of Middle Ridge farming district and Toowoomba c.1916-1930s.


Davenport Album

A duplicate album of that held by Downs Club and presented to G H Davenport c. 1880. Photographs taken by F C H Muller.
